Following its August 18 showcase at the Intuit Dome in Los Angeles, 2K revealed a closer look at NBA 2K27, including changes to gameplay, The City, MyCareer, MyNBA, MyTeam, and more.
NBA 2K27 launches on September 4 across PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, and Nintendo Switch 2, with Deluxe and Ultra Edition pre-order customers getting early access from August 26, up to nine days ahead of everyone else.
There is a catch, though. Deluxe and Ultra aren't sold on Switch 2, so Switch 2 players can't buy into early access at all and start on September 4 with everyone else.
Here's everything you need to know about the biggest changes coming to NBA 2K27.
What’s new in NBA 2K27 gameplay?
2K is targeting a more balanced gameplay experience in NBA 2K27, with changes designed to give both offense and defense more meaningful options.
New offensive moves include Step-Through Up-and-Unders, while defensive improvements include revamped Hands-Up Shot Contests. The aim is to make individual skill more important without allowing a single playstyle or exploit to dominate games.
ProPlay also returns, using real-world NBA footage to create more authentic player movement and animations. This time, 2K is combining ProPlay with machine learning to improve animation fidelity and make on-court adjustments feel more responsive.
/1. The City is finally going co-ed
For the first time, NBA 2K27 lets players create a female MyPlayer and compete alongside the wider City community.
