Ten African companies have earned a place among the world’s best employers in this year’s Forbes ranking, with South Africa’s Nedbank emerging as the continent’s highest-ranked company.

The 2026 ranking features 900 companies from around the world, including more than 14 based in Africa. 

If you’re a job seeker or digital nomad looking for the best places to work in Africa, the list offers a useful starting point. Forbes’ World’s Best Employers ranking assesses companies worldwide based on employee feedback and factors such as salary, career advancement opportunities, and work-life balance. 

With these factors in mind, Techloy reviewed the ranking and pulled out the top 10 African companies featured on the list.   

5 Startup Accelerators Still Open for Applications in 2026
These five accelerator programmes offer founders opportunities for investment, mentorship and market access, with application deadlines running from October through November.

/1. Sanlam 

  • Global ranking: 470th 
  • African ranking: 10th
  • Country Founded: South Africa 

What the company does: Sanlam is a South African financial services group with more than a century of history, dating back to 1918. Life insurance, investments, retirement savings, and wealth management make up the core of its business, and it now operates across much of the continent. 

/2. Mediclinic 

  • Global ranking: 460th
  • African ranking: 9th
  • Country Founded: South Africa 

What the company does: Mediclinic is a private hospital group that treats patients across Southern Africa, Switzerland, and the United Arab Emirates. Its network of hospitals and clinics covers emergency care, surgery, and specialist treatment. 

/3. Sasol 

  • Global ranking: 298th
  • African ranking: 8th
  • Country Founded: South Africa 

What the company does: The South African energy and chemicals group pioneered technology that turns coal and gas into liquid fuels, and also produces a wide range of chemicals used in everything from plastics to cosmetics. 

/4. Guaranty Trust Bank 

  • Global ranking: 277th
  • African ranking: 7th
  • Country Founded: Nigeria 

What the company does: Founded in 1990 and headquartered in Lagos, Nigeria, the bank is widely recognized for pioneering digital banking solutions across the country. It offers a full suite of commercial, retail, corporate, and investment banking options.
