Klasha, a Nigeria and San Francisco-based payment solution firm has raised an additional $2.1 million in its seed round funding at a total of $4.5 million.

  • The funds will help the startup to expand in streamlining cross border commerce from Africa to the rest of the world.
  • Klasha is solving the problems merchants and consumers face when they pay for products online using different channels.
  • The firm uses one API to enable KlashaCheckout where merchants outside Africa can receive payment from Nigeria, Zambia, Tanzania, Uganda, South Africa, and Kenya, and KlashaWire, a channel that allows merchants in the six focus countries to pay their suppliers in local currencies.
  • American Express (AMEX) Ventures, an investment group of American Express co-led the new round with Global Ventures.
