Nintendo really isn't giving me much time to breathe.
Just one day after the Zelda 40th Anniversary Direct, I was back watching another Nintendo showcase. This time, though, it was the proper September Nintendo Direct, with roughly 45 minutes of announcements covering games coming to Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 this winter and beyond.
The biggest surprises for me were Metroid Ravenous, a new 2D Metroid adventure starring Samus, and Kirby and the World Beyond, a brand-new 3D Kirby game that closed the presentation.
There was plenty more along the way, including Final Fantasy, Resident Evil, Star Fox, Persona, The Witcher 3 and Fire Emblem.
So, rather than making you sit through the entire 45-minute presentation again, here's everything Nintendo announced, in the order it appeared.

Monster Hunter Wilds Is Coming to Switch 2
Nintendo opened with a pretty substantial third-party announcement: Monster Hunter Wilds is coming to Nintendo Switch 2 on December 4, 2026.
I've already spent plenty of time with Monster Hunter Wilds, and while I enjoyed it, the game's technical problems, particularly on PC, were hard to ignore. That's why I'm particularly curious about this Switch 2 version.
Nintendo says the game will include its existing updates and content, while Capcom is also preparing the Ascendance expansion for 2027. For Switch 2 owners who haven't played Wilds yet, this could end up being a very attractive way to jump into Capcom's latest monster-hunting adventure.
Final Fantasy VII Revelation Gets a Release Date
Square Enix followed with Final Fantasy VII Revelation, the third and final chapter of its Final Fantasy VII remake project. The new trailer gave us another look at the game's world and, more importantly, showed the Highwind.
That immediately got my attention. The ability to take to the skies aboard the Highwind is one of those moments I've been waiting to see properly represented in this remake project, so I'm very interested in finding out how Square Enix handles it.
Final Fantasy VII Revelation launches on Nintendo Switch 2 on April 8, 2027, with pre-orders opening later today.
Crisis Core – Final Fantasy VII – Reunion Is Out Today
Square Enix wasn't finished with Final Fantasy VII. Immediately after revealing the release date for Revelation, Nintendo announced that Crisis Core – Final Fantasy VII – Reunion is coming to Switch 2.
The better part? It's launching later today. The remaster follows Zack Fair and serves as a prequel to the events of Final Fantasy VII. If you've been looking for something to play while waiting for Revelation, this is about as convenient as Nintendo could have made it.
Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity Gets a Switch 2 Edition
I wasn't expecting another Zelda announcement so soon after yesterday's anniversary Direct, but Nintendo wasn't completely finished with Hyrule. Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity – Definitive Edition is coming to Switch 2 on February 25, 2027.
The upgraded version features visual improvements, new modes and other enhancements, while bringing over the content from the original expansion pass. For anyone who missed Age of Calamity the first time around, it's a prequel of sorts to Breath of the Wild, telling the story surrounding the Great Calamity.
Nintendo is also offering a digital discount for owners of the original Switch version.
Meccha Chameleon Launches Today
Then came one of the Direct's lighter surprises. Meccha Chameleon is a colorful multiplayer hide-and-seek game built around hiding, transforming and hunting down other players.
It's coming to Switch 2 today. I don't think this is going to generate the same headlines as Metroid or Final Fantasy, but after several major announcements, something this simple and multiplayer-focused was a nice change of pace.
Pokémon Pokopia Gets More Expansion Content
Nintendo also gave us another look at the Pokémon Pokopia Expansion Pass. The upcoming content focuses on new accessories and customization options, giving players more ways to personalize their Pokémon-filled world.
The new content is scheduled to arrive later this year, with additional Pokémon also joining the game. After seeing the direction Nintendo is taking Pokopia, I'm increasingly convinced that customization is going to become an even bigger part of the experience.
Star Fox Gets a Free Multiplayer Update
Nintendo then brought back Star Fox with a free multiplayer update. The update adds four-player split-screen battles, along with three new stages based around Katina, Sector X and Venom.
It's coming on September 30. I'm particularly interested in the four-player support because Star Fox feels like the kind of series that benefits enormously from couch multiplayer. Nintendo could have easily treated this as a small content update, but adding another major multiplayer option gives players an actual reason to return.
Star Fox Adventures Is Coming to Nintendo Classics
And Nintendo wasn't done with Star Fox. Star Fox Adventures, Rare's GameCube-era action-adventure, is joining Nintendo Classics later today.
This remains one of the strangest games in the Star Fox catalogue because it moved Fox McCloud away from his traditional space-combat roots and into a much more conventional action-adventure.
If you've never played it, this is probably one of the more interesting additions to Nintendo's Classics library.
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Remastered Comes to Switch 2
Nintendo then showed The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Remastered running on Switch 2. The game launches on September 29, bringing CD Projekt Red's massive open-world RPG to Nintendo's new hardware with enhanced visuals and gameplay.
The Switch 2 version also supports mouse and motion controls, gyro aiming and touchscreen functionality.
I'm especially interested in seeing how much of a difference the additional Switch 2 power makes here. The original Switch version of The Witcher 3 was already impressive simply because CD Projekt Red managed to squeeze such a massive game onto Nintendo's older hardware.
There's also new content on the way. The Songs of the Past expansion is scheduled for 2027.
Kingdom Come: Deliverance II Royal Edition Is Coming to Switch 2
Another major RPG followed with Kingdom Come: Deliverance II Royal Edition. Warhorse Studios' historically grounded open-world RPG is coming to Nintendo Switch 2 in 2027.
This is another game I wouldn't have expected to see running on Nintendo hardware a few years ago, so its inclusion is another indication of how much more ambitious Switch 2's third-party lineup is becoming.
Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave Gets Another Trailer
Nintendo also showed another trailer for Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave. The strategy RPG remains scheduled for September 17, so there's not much longer to wait.
The new footage provided another look at the game's tactical battles and characters without changing that release date.
