OnePlus may debut a new Turbo phone built around a 9,000mAh battery

Leaked benchmarks suggest a performance-focused device that prioritizes lasting power over frequent, fast charging, signaling a shift in how OnePlus is positioning its 2026 lineup.

If you’ve ever carried a power bank because your phone couldn’t survive a full day, OnePlus’s next device might finally make that unnecessary. After releasing the OnePlus 15R in global markets, reports suggest the company is working on a phone with a massive 9,000mAh battery, its largest to date, which many believe could debut as the first Turbo model.

So far, OnePlus hasn’t shared much beyond teasing that a new lineup is coming, but a fresh leak this week offers a glimpse at what could be the Turbo model or possibly a new Nord device.

OnePlus 15 Lands in India with Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 Elite and a 7,300 mAh Battery
The OnePlus 15 focuses on power, battery life, and AI features as competition in India’s premium phone market tightens.

What chipset will the upcoming OnePlus Turbo model use?

According to a Geekbench listing, the phone is powered by an octa-core chipset believed to be the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4, featuring a CPU layout of one prime core clocked at 3.21GHz, three performance cores, and four efficiency cores, paired with an Adreno 825 GPU, meaning you don’t have to worry about sluggish graphics or frame drops during heavy gaming or multitasking. When compared to full-blown flagship processors, it still sits firmly in the high-performance category.

In terms of memory, the data indicates 14.81GB of RAM, which suggests a 16GB RAM variant at launch comparable to the likes of the OnePlus 15 and 15R, and places it squarely in the same space as K-series devices, both of which have built a loyal following among mobile gamers. The phone appears to be running Android 16, suggesting it will ship with the latest version of Google’s operating system out of the box.

OnePlus Rolls Out OxygenOS 16 in India
The update introduces Android 16 features, AI-powered tools, and a lighter design that rivals Samsung’s One UI.

For users who spend long hours gaming or streaming, a 9,000mAh battery could be a game-changer, a talking point that sets it apart from most flagship phones currently on the market.

It doesn’t seem like the company is settling for a single device rollout, though, but two. Leaks suggest OnePlus could be planning a double launch with two Turbo models debuting first in China, a move not so different from what it did with the OnePlus 15 and 15R.

While the PLU110 (the leaked Turbo model) is expected to pack the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4, its second variant might go all out with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5, both sharing the same massive battery and display setup. If true, this signals that OnePlus is aiming to dominate both the performance and gaming segments in 2026.

The takeaway

OnePlus working on a new phone with a 9,000mAh battery feels like a natural addition to its usual fast-charging selling point. Instead of just refilling quickly, the idea now seems to be not needing to plug in as often in the first place. If this Turbo model delivers near-flagship performance at a more accessible price, it could land right in the sweet spot for users who care about power, longevity, and value.

With the 2026 flagship lineup already in motion, this also gives OnePlus room to flesh out the space below the 15 series. Rather than competing with itself, the company appears to be widening its lineup, giving buyers more choice without forcing them into flagship pricing.
