In a market bursting with affordable 5G phones, the Oppo A5 Pro and Vivo T4 5G are two names that stand out but for very different reasons.

The Oppo A5 Pro leans hard on durability and price, promising a rugged everyday phone at ₹17,999. Meanwhile, the Vivo T4 5G stretches the budget a little further but throws in a sharper AMOLED display, faster charging, and a performance boost that aims to punch above its weight.

At first glance, both phones seem like smart buys—stylish designs, big batteries, and modern specs. But when you look closer, the real question isn't just which one is better, it's which one fits the kind of user you are.

The Vivo T4 5G smartphone might be coming to India in April
Leaks suggest the T4 packs a massive 7,300mAh battery with 90W fast charging.

Let’s break it down.

/1. Design & Build

First impressions are close: both phones feel lighter and slimmer than you’d expect, considering the battery sizes they hide inside. The Oppo A5 Pro manages to stay impressively slim at 7.76mm and 194g, making it one of the more comfortable big-battery phones you’ll find. And it’s not just about looks, with IP66, IP68, and IP69 certifications, plus MIL-STD-810H durability, this device can take abuse that most mid-range phones wouldn't dare face.

The Vivo T4 5G also wears its massive 7300mAh battery well. At 7.89mm and 199g, it’s slightly bulkier, but Vivo’s curved edges and carbon anode battery tech keep it feeling surprisingly manageable. However, its IP65 rating means it isn’t built to survive rough conditions the way Oppo’s phone is.

Both are solidly made though. But if your phone needs to survive rough handling, unpredictable weather, or an occasional drop, the Oppo clearly holds the edge.

Verdict: Oppo wins on durability, Vivo wins on sleekness.

/2. Display

On paper, both offer 120Hz refresh rates, but the experience couldn’t be more different.

The Oppo A5 Pro settles for a 6.67-inch LCD panel with HD+ resolution. It’s smooth enough for scrolling and fine indoors, but colors look muted compared to what you’ll find elsewhere, and outdoor visibility under harsh sunlight struggles despite its claimed 1000 nits brightness.

Switch to the Vivo T4 5G, and it’s immediately obvious how much better the display experience can be at this price. The 6.77-inch AMOLED panel delivers sharper Full HD+ resolution, much richer colors, better contrast, and a peak brightness of around 5000 nits. HDR streaming on Netflix or Prime Video actually looks cinematic — something the Oppo A5 Pro just can't match.

Simply put, if display quality matters even a little, whether for YouTube, gaming, or just basic everyday browsing, Vivo absolutely crushes it here.

Verdict: Vivo T4 5G wins by a landslide.

/3. Performance

Both phones promise 5G connectivity, smooth multitasking, and gaming-ready power. But there’s a gap once you start pushing them.

The Oppo A5 Pro, powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 6300, is good enough for day-to-day tasks: social media, video streaming, even casual games. But heavy gaming and long multitasking sessions reveal its limits — frame drops and occasional lags aren't hard to spot.

In contrast, the Vivo T4 5G flexes its Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 muscle. In benchmarks, it blows past the Dimensity 6300, and in real-world use, that power translates into faster app loading, smoother gaming (even if capped at 60FPS), and more stability under pressure. It handles BGMI, multitasking, and background apps much more gracefully.

Oppo feels serviceable; Vivo feels confident. That’s the difference.

Verdict: Vivo T4 5G clearly pulls ahead in performance.

/4. Cameras

Both phones give you a 50MP main sensor paired with a 2MP depth camera, but the similarities end there.

The Oppo A5 Pro delivers decent daylight shots and handles portraits reasonably well. But low-light performance is shaky, and selfies from its 8MP front camera are nothing to write home about.

The Vivo T4 5G, on the other hand, tightens things up with OIS for more stable shots and a 32MP selfie camera that easily outperforms Oppo in detail, color accuracy, and low-light conditions. Vivo’s photos have that extra layer of polish — especially when it comes to selfies, where Oppo’s results feel a bit washed out.

If photography or social media matter to you, it’s not even close.

Verdict: Vivo T4 5G is the stronger camera phone.

/5. Battery Life & Charging

Both phones come with huge batteries, but again, scale matters.

The Oppo A5 Pro's 5,800mAh cell is generous and easily lasts a full day of moderate use. Its 45W fast charging means a half-hour top-up keeps you moving.

But Vivo doesn’t just win — it obliterates here. The 7,300mAh battery on the T4 5G feels almost endless. Even heavy users are looking at two full days between charges, and with 90W fast charging, you’re back to 100% in under an hour. Plus, reverse wired charging means the Vivo can even double as a power bank when needed.

If battery life is the priority, the Vivo T4 is basically in a league of its own.

Verdict: Vivo T4 5G dominates on battery.

Final Verdict: Which Should You Buy?

The Oppo A5 Pro is a great pick for buyers who value durability, affordability, and basic reliability. It’s one of the toughest mid-range phones you can buy today, and for ₹17,999 (~$215), it absolutely has its place.

But if you care about display quality, performance, camera sharpness, and battery longevity, the extra ₹4,000 you’d spend on the Vivo T4 5G at ₹21,999 (~$263) buys you a lot more phone. It's not just about better specs on paper — it's about daily usage feeling faster, sharper, and more premium.

Bottom line:

  • Tight budget + tough phone? Go with the Oppo A5 Pro.
  • Better experience + future-proofing? Vivo T4 5G is worth the stretch.
