Red Dead Redemption has officially returned, and this time, it’s everywhere. Rockstar has released Red Dead Redemption and its iconic expansion Undead Nightmare across a massive lineup of platforms, including iOS, Android, the Nintendo Switch 2, and even Netflix.

Players can now jump back into John Marston’s journey across the American frontier hunting down the remnants of the Van der Linde Gang or dive into the chaotic, supernatural, zombie-filled world of Undead Nightmare, all with new ways to play and major upgrades on modern systems.

Red Dead Redemption modern upgrade hits PS5, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch 2
Red Dead Redemption’s upgrade brings 4K, HDR, and 60 FPS, with free digital upgrades and save transfers for existing owners.

Play It Anywhere

For the first time ever, Red Dead Redemption and Undead Nightmare are available on iOS and Android. Rockstar has added mobile-friendly controls and a dedicated performance mode that pushes higher framerates on supported devices.

Netflix subscribers get an extra treat: both mobile versions are available free through the Netflix app, continuing Netflix’s push into premium, console-quality mobile gaming.

The game has also arrived on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2, complete with performance improvements. The best part? If you already own the game on PS4, Xbox One, or Nintendo Switch, you get upgraded for free, and your save data carries over.

These new versions, developed with Double Eleven and Cast Iron Games — are also included in the GTA+ Games Library and the PlayStation Plus Game Catalog.

What’s New in the Upgraded Versions?

Players upgrading from older systems can expect a suite of enhancements, including a smooth 60 FPS gameplay, higher image quality, HDR support, 4K resolution on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, and DLSS, HDR, mouse controls, and high-resolution 60 FPS support on Nintendo Switch 2

PS4 owners get a free upgrade to the PS5 version, with full save transfer. Switch players who own the original version can upgrade on Switch 2 via the Nintendo Switch 2 Edition Upgrade Pack on the eShop.
Xbox players who own the digital version simply download the new version from the Microsoft Store.

This release bundles the full single-player campaigns of both Red Dead Redemption and Undead Nightmare, including all content from the original Game of the Year Edition.

Players can revisit John Marston’s desperate mission to track down former outlaw allies under federal pressure or take on an apocalyptic frontier swarming with zombies, deranged survivors, and haunting new threats.

Rockstar isn’t just re-releasing Red Dead Redemption; it’s making the game accessible anywhere, for everyone, with meaningful upgrades and no extra cost for existing owners. Whether you want to play on a next-gen console at 60 FPS or grind through zombie hordes on your phone during your commute, the game is now more flexible and widely available than ever. It’s a rare win in today’s gaming landscape.
