Resident Evil Requiem has received a surprise new update, and fans can now jump into a brand-new mini-game mode titled Leon Must Die Forever.
The free DLC mode was quietly released as part of the latest Version 1.300.000 update, with players on PlayStation 5, PC, and Nintendo Switch 2 able to access it now after completing the main campaign.
The new mode puts legendary agent Leon S. Kennedy back into nonstop combat scenarios, featuring remixed locations from the main story, tougher enemies, randomized progression systems, and increasingly difficult encounters.
Leon Must Die Forever Brings Roguelike Action to Resident Evil Requiem
According to Capcom, the mode delivers “the nonstop combat action that players know and love from legendary agent Leon S. Kennedy.”
Players must battle through 20 escalating stages while racing against the clock before eventually facing the boss Victor in a final showdown. Enemy variants become stronger the deeper players progress, while Leon gains access to enhanced abilities exclusive to the mode.
The mini-game also introduces roguelike-style mechanics. Area progression changes with every run, weapons are randomized, and Leon’s enhancer abilities differ each time, giving the mode strong replay value for returning players.
Capcom also confirmed that players can redeem challenge points earned in the campaign to unlock additional items and rewards. The update adds 11 new challenges tied specifically to the mode.
How to Unlock Leon Must Die Forever
Players must first complete the main story campaign before the mode becomes available.
After updating the game to Version 1.300.000, users can access the mini-game through the “Extra Games” section on the main menu.
Here’s how to unlock it:
- Finish the Resident Evil Requiem campaign
- Download and install update Version 1.300.000
- Open the Main Menu
- Select “Extra Games”
- Launch “Leon Must Die Forever”
At launch, Leon Kennedy is the only playable character in the mode.
The release comes after months of speculation surrounding upcoming DLC plans for Resident Evil Requiem. Back in March, Capcom teased that additional content would arrive in May, though no official release date had been confirmed.
Instead of a traditional announcement, the company shadow dropped the mode without warning, immediately sending Resident Evil fans online into discussions about its difficulty, roguelike mechanics, and replayability.
The new content is separate from Resident Evil Requiem’s larger story expansion DLC, which is reportedly still in development and currently expected sometime in 2026.
The arrival of Leon Must Die Forever continues Capcom’s tradition of adding bonus modes to major Resident Evil releases, similar to Mercenaries-style content from previous entries in the franchise.
With randomized gameplay systems, unlockable upgrades, and high-intensity combat encounters, the new mode appears designed to keep players engaged long after completing the main story.
For longtime fans of Leon Kennedy and action-heavy Resident Evil gameplay, Leon Must Die Forever may quickly become one of Resident Evil Requiem’s biggest post-launch additions yet.
