Google's Gemini Somehow Knew a Game Secret Nobody Had Ever Seen

A solo indie developer, Klub Kofta Studio has sparked a debate over AI privacy after claiming Google's AI revealed the name of an unreleased character from his Steam game, despite the information allegedly existing only in a private Google Doc.

The incident has raised fresh questions about how AI systems retrieve information, even as Google insists its AI models do not scan or train on users' private Google Workspace documents.

Steam Developer Says Google AI Revealed an Unannounced Character

The developer behind Operation Octo, a tower defense game released on Steam in September 2025, says Google's AI unexpectedly exposed content that had never been publicly announced.

According to the solo developer, who goes by Klub Kofta Studio, the discovery happened after a member of the game's Discord community began asking Google's AI unusual questions about Operation Octo.

While most responses appeared harmless, some included surprisingly specific details about the game.

Curious, the developer asked the player to question the AI about future content that had never been revealed publicly.

To his surprise, Google's AI reportedly responded with the exact name of an unreleased character, "Vantage Tripod."

According to the developer, that name had never been shared with players.

"As far as I know, the only place where the info exists in a digital form is inside one of my own Google Docs," the developer wrote on Reddit.

He also clarified that the name did not exist in the game's files, Steam build, source code, or serialized game data.

Google Responds to the Allegations

Following the viral Reddit post, Google responded to the claims, denying that its AI accessed or trained on private Workspace documents.
