Developer Mega Crit has officially confirmed that Slay the Spire 2 will enter Early Access on March 5, 2026, arriving on PC via Steam. The announcement came alongside a striking new animated trailer that not only sets the tone for the sequel’s dark fantasy return but also reveals one of its biggest additions: four-player co-op.

Yes, this time you won’t have to face the Spire alone.

The two minutes twenty two seconds trailer blends stylish animation with gameplay footage, teasing a more chaotic and collaborative climb. As the trailer’s lone hero falls in battle, others step in to help, a clear signal that teamwork will be central to this sequel’s identity.

If the original was about mastering your own deck, Slay the Spire 2 looks ready to test how well you can sync with others.

Early Access won’t be light on content. Mega Crit promises new cards, characters, relics, potions, events, abilities, and even alternate acts. The trailer hints at fresh mechanics that appear to twist the original formula in unpredictable ways, along with a glimpse at at least one brand-new playable character.

The official description per Steam, leans into the sequel’s darker tone. “For 1,000 years, the Spire lay dormant, its secrets buried and its horrors forgotten. Now, it has reopened, hungrier and more dangerous than ever, devouring all who dare to ascend,” it said.

“New perils demand sharper strategies, relentless cunning, and unwavering resolve. Outwit the Spire’s brutal trials and uncover the truths hidden at its peak.”

The original Slay the Spire became a breakout hit when it launched in 2019, helping define the modern roguelike deckbuilder genre. Its tight mechanics, endless replayability, and deceptively deep strategy earned it critical acclaim and a devoted fan base.

Slay the Spire 2 was first announced in 2024, with an initial target of late 2025. A delay pushed the release into 2026, but with the March 5 Early Access date now locked in, players are just weeks away from getting their hands on it.
