Nintendo is diving back into the ink-soaked world of Splatoon, but this time, it’s doing things a little differently. The newly announced Splatoon Raiders is shaping up to be a fresh, single-player-focused spin-off, and it already looks like one of the most interesting exclusives coming to the Nintendo Switch 2.
Unlike the traditional multiplayer chaos the franchise is known for, Splatoon Raiders leans heavily into a solo adventure experience. The game introduces a treasure-hunting storyline where players explore islands, gather loot, and battle enemies in a more structured, narrative-driven format.
It’s still very much Splatoon at its core, but with a twist that feels closer to an action-adventure game than a competitive shooter.
Fan-favourite trio Deep Cut is back, and this time they’re not just hosting, they’re your crew. Players will work alongside them as they raid islands for salvage, hunt for hidden treasure, and take on waves of enemies known as Salmonids.
This adds a strong sense of personality and story to the experience, something longtime fans have been asking for.
Gameplay highlights so far
From the first trailer, Splatoon Raiders is packing a mix of familiar mechanics and new ideas:
- Character creation lets you personalize your player
- Exploration-focused gameplay across multiple islands
- Combat against Salmonids, expanding on a known enemy type
- Gadget-based mechanics, hinting at new tools and abilities
It’s clear Nintendo is experimenting with how far the Splatoon formula can stretch beyond multiplayer.
