The fourth season of Ted Lasso brings the series into a real-world setting, with part of the season filmed inside Thames Hospice’s Otter Wing in Maidenhead, Berkshire.
An unused section of the hospice was temporarily transformed into a television set for filming in September 2025, and the location now appears in the new season.
The decision gave the production an authentic clinical setting while also creating a new source of income for the hospice. Thames Hospice chief executive Rachael de Caux said hiring out unused space for filming is an important revenue stream for the organisation, which needs around £44,000 every day to provide its services.

Why Was Ted Lasso Filmed Inside a Hospice?
The production used the Otter Wing because part of the building was not being used for clinical care at the time. Rather than constructing an entirely fictional hospital environment in a studio, the crew could adapt an existing healthcare space for the scenes.
That required a significant transformation. De Caux said the production team dressed the wing in about a day and a half, making the familiar clinical space almost impossible to recognise. The hospice was also able to isolate the area being used, limiting disruption to staff and patients.
The arrangement reflects a wider part of television production that viewers rarely see. Real locations can provide a level of detail and atmosphere that is difficult to recreate on a set, while filming agreements can give organisations another way to generate income from spaces that would otherwise remain unused.
