A four-year break can give a television series room to build anticipation, but it can also make it harder to win audiences back. The Terminal List returns on 21 October 2026, with all eight episodes of Season 2 arriving on Prime Video worldwide. Chris Pratt reprises his role as James Reece, a Navy SEAL commander whose search for revenge drove the first season.
Based on Jack Carrโs novel True Believer, the new chapter expands into international espionage and a conspiracy linked to Reeceโs family. Prime Video is included with an Amazon Prime membership, although prices vary by country.
The extended break has allowed the franchise to explore a bigger story, but whether it can recapture the momentum of its debut season remains to be seen.

Why Did The Terminal List Take Four Years to Return?
The first season premiered on 1 July 2022, and Prime Video confirmed its renewal in February 2023, alongside plans for a prequel. The second season did not begin filming until 2025, with production running through much of the year, according to Production List.
The 2023 Hollywood writersโ and actorsโ strikes disrupted development across the industry, contributing to delays for many productions. The time needed to develop the scripts, coordinate Chris Prattโs schedule and film a larger international story may also have contributed to the gap, although Amazon has not publicly identified one definitive reason for the delay.
Season 2 adapts Carrโs second book, giving Reece a new mission and a wider conspiracy to investigate.
Has The Prequel Kept the Franchise Alive?
Prime Video released The Terminal List: Dark Wolf in 2025, focusing on Taylor Kitschโs Ben Edwards before the events of the original series. This gave the franchise another entry while audiences waited for Prattโs return.
The strategy may help retain interest, but a prequel is not a complete substitute for a main series. Viewers who came for Reeceโs personal story may not have followed Edwards into a different narrative. Meanwhile, new audiences could discover the franchise through the spin-off without necessarily feeling compelled to watch Season 2.
Amazon says the franchise has accumulated more than 100 million viewers worldwide, according to its official Season 2 announcement. Which means that the property has a substantial audience, although it does not tell us how many viewers remain active or will watch the new episodes.
Can Season 2 Match the First Seasonโs Appeal?
The original series combined military action with a psychological revenge story. Reece was not just fighting enemies; he was dealing with trauma, betrayal, and the loss of his family. That emotional core helped give the action a clear purpose.
