Vivo V80 vs Vivo V70

The Vivo V70 quietly became one of the best camera phones in the premium mid-range segment, thanks to its ZEISS partnership, sleek design, and excellent battery life. Now Vivo is back with the Vivo V80, and on paper, it looks like a much bigger upgrade than a typical year-over-year refresh. 

The V80 brings a 7,200mAh battery, 90W fast charging, a 50MP ZEISS camera system with Sony's LYTIA 700V sensor, 4K Cinematic Mode, Android 17 out of the box, and up to six years of security updates. Meanwhile, the V70 still offers flagship-style design, a capable Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 chip, and one of the strongest portrait camera systems in its class.

/1. Design 

The Vivo V70 already looked like a flagship phone with its matte glass finish, metallic frame, and ZEISS-branded camera island. The V80 doesn't completely reinvent that design, but it polishes it. 

The biggest visual change is the new rectangular camera module with a circular Aura Light and ZEISS branding integrated into the island. Vivo is also moving to a slightly more compact body while keeping premium glass and metal materials. 

If you liked the V70's premium aesthetic, the V80 feels like the cleaner, more modern evolution. 

/2. Display 

This is one of the clearest upgrades. 

The Vivo V80 gets a 6.59-inch 1.5K AMOLED panel with a 144Hz refresh rate and a claimed 5,000 nits peak brightness. That's a massive jump over the V70's already impressive display. 

The V70 still has an excellent AMOLED panel with vivid colours, symmetrical bezels, and a 120Hz refresh rate, but its brightness tops out much lower. 

If outdoor visibility and smoother scrolling matter, the V80 takes it comfortably. 

/3. Performance 

Surprisingly, both phones use the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 processor. 

That means everyday performance, gaming, multitasking, and efficiency should feel very similar. Both also support fast LPDDR5X RAM and UFS storage, making app launches and multitasking quick. 

The V80 ships with Android 17 and newer AI features, so it has a software advantage rather than a hardware one.
