Anthropic is setting up an office in Singapore by October, giving the Claude maker a physical presence in a market where its AI model is already seeing unusually high adoption.
The Singapore office will be Anthropic’s fifth location in the Asia-Pacific region, following its existing operations in Tokyo, Seoul, Bengaluru and Sydney.
According to the company, it has become a “standout market” where people are using Claude most heavily.

Why the expansion?
Data from the Anthropic Economic Index puts Singapore second among 121 countries for Claude usage, behind Australia, with Claude adoption in Singapore 5.81 times higher than expected relative to the country’s population size.
Chris Ciauri, Anthropic’s international managing director, said the company’s decision to open an office there was a natural next step as it expands across Asia-Pacific.
“As we grow across Asia-Pacific, opening an office in Singapore, where Claude usage per capita is among the highest in the world, is a natural next step,” Ciauri said in a statement reported by Fortune.
Anthropic told The Business Times that the new office will be located in Raffles Place.
The company’s interest in Singapore also comes as the country is putting more money and policy behind its ambitions to become an AI hub. Singapore has committed more than S$1 billion ($785 million) to strengthen its public AI capabilities, while its position as a regional business centre has made it an established entry point for companies looking to operate across Southeast Asia.
In a way, this combination of existing AI adoption and a business environment designed to attract technology companies is also drawing other major AI players to the country.
