Announcing the milestone, Ubisoft confirmed that the remake sold 2 million copies on its launch day following its release on July 9, while also becoming the most-played Assassin's Creed game ever on Steam, reaching a peak of 99,451 concurrent players during its first day.

The game also dominated streaming platforms at launch, ranking No. 1 on Twitch on release day as thousands of players tuned in to watch Edward Kenway's return to the Caribbean.

Commenting on the game's early success, Martin Schelling, Head of the Assassin's Creed Brand, said the response from players had exceeded the team's expectations.

"Black Flag has always held a special place in the heart of the community, and ours."

He continued, "Bringing it back with Resynced was a promise to that passion for Edward's adventures, and to the unique sense of freedom players experienced back then. Seeing so many players set sail on day one, along with the great reviews from critics, is the greatest reward we could have hoped for."
