CHART: AI Use at Work Has Nearly Doubled in Two Years
What we’re seeing now isn’t the final form of AI at work. It’s just the beginning.
AI went from quantum-level technology to an everyday business tool fast. Just two years ago, its use in the workplace was limited and mostly experimental. Now, it’s showing up across all corporate departments — from hiring and onboarding to performance reviews and customer support, even basic tasks like writing emails.
New survey data by Gallup shows that 40% of U.S. employees now use AI at least a few times a year, nearly doubling from 21% in 2023. Frequent use — defined as several times a week or more — also jumped, from 11% to 19%. In just the past year, daily use has doubled. This pace of adoption is hard to ignore.
But the surge isn’t spread evenly. AI use is rising fast among white-collar professionals and leaders, while staying flat in front-line and production roles. When asked, just 9% of blue-collar workers say they use AI frequently, down from 10% in 2023. For white-collar workers, that number is 27%. Among leaders, it climbs even higher to 33%.
