Discord appears to have suffered a widespread outage across parts of the United States late Thursday, leaving thousands of users unable to connect to voice calls. Reports on Downdetector began surfacing around 11 p.m. EDT, quickly climbing into the thousands as users flagged issues with the app’s voice features.
At the centre of the disruption was a recurring “server awaiting endpoint” error, which typically points to problems connecting to voice servers. For most users, this translated into broken voice chats, failed call attempts, and streaming sessions that simply wouldn’t load.
Downdetector data suggests the issue was heavily concentrated around voice functionality, with over 90% of complaints tied to calls, while a smaller number of users reported app glitches and login problems.
The outage didn’t follow a straightforward pattern either. Some users briefly regained access around 11:30 p.m., only for the problems to return minutes later. By roughly 11:45 p.m., reports had surged close to 8,000, highlighting how quickly the disruption escalated. Major American cities like New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, and San Francisco were among the hardest hit, suggesting the issue was fairly widespread rather than isolated.
User reactions reflected just how central Discord has become to everyday online interaction. Some complained about being stuck in voice channels waiting for connections to go through, while others shared frustrations about interrupted watch parties, gaming sessions, and late-night calls.

Discord eventually acknowledged the issue on its Status page, confirming that new voice calls were failing to connect and that it was investigating the problem. A few hours later, the company said a fix had been implemented and that it was monitoring the results, although it’s unclear how quickly service fully stabilised for all users.
