Bandai Namco Entertainment has officially pulled back the curtain on the next era of the Xenoverse series, offering fans a mix of closure and a massive fresh beginning.
During the Dragon Ball Games Battle Hour 2026 in Los Angeles, the publisher confirmed two major milestones: the final expansion for the decade-long Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 and the long-rumoured reveal of Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3.
Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3: Welcome to ‘Age 1000’
The biggest headline from the event is the official reveal of Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3. After months of leaks regarding a project codenamed “Age 1000,” Bandai Namco confirmed this is the official setting for the new game.
The debut trailer showcased a world set deep in the future of the Dragon Ball timeline, featuring the new protagonist Brett (originally designed by Akira Toriyama) and a group known as the Great Saiyan Squad.
- Release Window: 2027
- Confirmed Platforms: PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC (Steam).
- The Nintendo Question: While a Nintendo Switch version was notably absent from the initial announcement, industry insiders suggest a version for the Switch 2 is likely in development, following the trend of other recent releases like Sparking! Zero.
The End of an Era: Final Xenoverse 2 DLC Date
After ten years of consistent post-launch support, Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 is finally wrapping up its roadmap. Bandai Namco confirmed that the last expansion—Future Saga Chapter 4—will launch on September 30, 2026.
This final chapter is expected to conclude the "Future Saga" narrative that has dominated recent updates, bringing the story of the Time Patrollers to a definitive close before the sequel takes over.
More from Battle Hour 2026: Sparking! Zero & FighterZ
The Xenoverse news wasn't the only highlight of the fan festival. Bandai Namco also detailed several high-profile updates for other franchise hits:
- Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero: A massive new DLC titled "Super Limit-Breaking Neo" arrives in Summer 2026. It will add over 30 new characters, including fan favourites like Super 17, Bardock (Super Saiyan), and Demon King Piccolo.
- Dragon Ball FighterZ: The long-running fighter is getting a new balance patch and one final surprise DLC character to be revealed later this year.
The Bigger Picture
The transition to Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3 signals Bandai Namco’s commitment to evolving the franchise for current-gen hardware. By moving the setting to Age 1000, the developers have a blank canvas to introduce new mechanics and lore while maintaining the custom-character formula that made the first two games global hits with over 10 million copies sold.
