Sucker Punch has rolled out a major new update for Ghost of Tsushima: Director’s Cut on PC, and it’s a big win for both Steam Deck players and online warriors.

Patch 8, now live, officially makes the single-player campaign Steam Deck Verified, promising smoother performance, interface upgrades, and a new graphics preset optimized specifically for handheld play. Players can now take Jin Sakai’s journey on the go without worrying about crashes or visual hiccups.

The update also introduces a key structural change by separating the single-player campaign from its online multiplayer mode, Legends. The Legends mode is now available as a free standalone DLC on Steam for anyone who owns or purchases Ghost of Tsushima: Director’s Cut. For existing players, nothing changes; your progress and experience remain intact. New players only need to activate the free DLC once to access Legends, though a PlayStation Network account is still required for online play.

Sucker Punch says the separation improves stability and device compatibility while fixing a long-standing issue in certain regions where PSN requirements affected single-player access. Now, fans can enjoy the campaign offline without needing to sign in, while multiplayer remains PSN-connected.

Beyond those major changes, Patch 8 includes several technical improvements and fixes based on community feedback. The update resolves an audio bug during the “Eternal Blue Sky” mission, fixes a crash linked to Steam Input, and updates AMD FSR to version 3.1.4 with clearer display information. It also brings a round of performance optimizations and UI refinements for smoother overall gameplay.

Sucker Punch thanked fans for their continued feedback and support, adding that these updates are part of an ongoing effort to make Ghost of Tsushima one of the most polished PC experiences in recent years.

The takeaway

Patch 8 doesn’t just bring Ghost of Tsushima to the Steam Deck, it redefines it. With free DLC, improved portability, and deeper technical polish, the samurai epic continues to evolve into one of the most refined PC releases of its generation.
