After months of waiting for Grand Theft Auto VI Trailer 3, Rockstar has finally revealed what's next. It just isn't what most fans expected.

Instead of releasing another standalone trailer, the studio has announced Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look, a special showcase that promises the most detailed look yet at the highly anticipated open-world game ahead of its November launch.

The presentation premieres on Thursday, August 27, with Netflix getting exclusive first access before it arrives on YouTube later the same day.

Netflix subscribers can watch the showcase at 12:00 p.m. PT / 3:00 p.m. ET / 8:00 p.m. BST, while the YouTube version will premiere roughly six hours later at 6:00 p.m. PT / 9:00 p.m. ET / 2:00 a.m. BST (August 28). Subscribers can already set reminders through Netflix ahead of the event.

GTA 6 Delay: Former Rockstar Developer Weighs In
A former Rockstar Games animator says another GTA 6 delay remains possible if the studio believes the game still isn’t ready for release.

Rockstar is promising more than just another trailer

Unlike Rockstar's previous cinematic reveals, Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look is being positioned as a much broader presentation.

Netflix describes it simply as: "Coming August 27: See an extended look at Grand Theft Auto 6, the next evolution of the Grand Theft Auto series."

Rockstar hasn't confirmed exactly what viewers will see, but the format suggests something beyond another cinematic trailer. Fans are expecting extended gameplay, a closer look at the game's world and mechanics, and fresh details about its characters.

If that happens, it would become the biggest GTA 6 reveal since Trailer 2 debuted in May 2025.

Why did Rockstar choose Netflix?

The partnership is almost as surprising as the announcement itself. Rather than premiering directly on Rockstar's own channels, the showcase will debut first on Netflix before becoming available on YouTube.

Netflix has described the event as a "first-of-its-kind partnership," with Vice President of Nonfiction Series Brandon Riegg calling Grand Theft Auto reveals "cultural moments" that attract unprecedented levels of anticipation.

"The anticipation and fandom around Grand Theft Auto 6 is unprecedented, and we're honored that Rockstar Games has partnered with us to debut the next part of the Grand Theft Auto story with Netflix members first," Riegg said.
