VIDEO: How to Turn Off Location Services on a MacBook

Your MacBook can use your location for things like Maps, weather, search suggestions, and other location-based features. For some people, that convenience is worth it. For others, there is little reason for their laptop to know where they are. 

The good news is that turning Location Services off takes less than a minute. Apple also lets you control location access for individual apps, so you don’t necessarily have to disable everything.   

How to turn off Location Services on a MacBook 

Step 1: Open System Settings 

Step 2: Click Privacy & Security in the sidebar 

Step 3: Select Location Services 

Step 4: Turn off the Location Services toggle. Enter your Mac’s password if prompted and confirm the change
