FromSoftware has revealed more details about The Duskbloods, giving players a clearer idea of what to expect from its first Nintendo Switch 2 exclusive. Rather than being a traditional co-op Soulslike, the game is an eight-player online action title where players fight each other and AI enemies, form temporary alliances, and compete to earn enough points to survive.

The first hands-on opportunity is coming with a global network test starting August 21, 2026, giving selected players a chance to try the game ahead of its full release later this year. FromSoftware has not yet announced the final price or exact release date, but the game is being developed in Tokyo by the studio behind Elden Ring and Dark Souls, with Hidetaka Miyazaki directing the project.

The Duskbloods Changes the Usual Soulslike Formula

The biggest surprise is how different The Duskbloods is from the traditional FromSoftware structure. Rather than exploring a large world alone or bringing a few friends along to defeat bosses, players enter matches with up to eight Bloodsworn, supernatural warriors whose powers come from blood. The goal is not simply to eliminate everyone else.

The game combines player-versus-player and player-versus-environment combat, meaning players must deal with other Bloodsworn while also fighting enemies and bosses controlled by the game. FromSoftware president and director Hidetaka Miyazaki has described the PvPvE structure as something that interested him because it creates more possibilities for game design while allowing the studio to use its experience creating challenging enemies.
