Rockstar is set to give fans an extended look at GTA 6 on August 27, with the trailer premiering on Netflix before being released on Rockstar's own YouTube channel later that day.

But instead of waiting for the official reveal, fans have been flooded with alleged gameplay footage and other material from the upcoming Grand Theft Auto game. Rockstar has reportedly been issuing takedown requests as the leaks spread.

The timing is not ideal for Take-Two. Its share price started the week at around $245 and has since fallen to roughly $236, resulting in billions of dollars being wiped from the company's market capitalization.

That said, it would be misleading to blame the entire decline on the GTA 6 leaks. Several other factors are also influencing Take-Two's stock.

Take-Two's stock has fallen amid the GTA 6 leaks

Take-Two's share price has been volatile throughout 2026 and is currently down more than 6% year-to-date. Over the past year, however, the stock remains up around 3.3%, while investors who bought five years ago have seen gains of roughly 50%.

The latest decline comes at a particularly important moment for Take-Two because GTA 6 is expected to be one of the biggest releases in the company's history.
