On Monday, Apple released iOS 27 developer beta 5, bringing a selection of user interface tweaks, new features, and intriguing indications of six unreleased iPhone models.
System files in the latest build include references to Apple's upcoming iPhone 18 lineup, providing the strongest evidence yet of a second-generation iPhone Air and the long-rumored foldable iPhone Ultra.
While rumors surrounding these devices have circulated for months, this marks the first time all six upcoming models have surfaced together in iOS system code.

Six new iPhones appear in Apple’s code
The bigger discovery comes from internal system files related to the iPhone’s battery drivers and Battery Intelligence features. They contain references to six unreleased models:
- V62 — iPhone Air 2
- V63 — iPhone 18 Pro
- V64 — iPhone 18 Pro Max
- V67 — iPhone 18
- V68 — iPhone Ultra
- V69 — iPhone 18e
These identifiers don’t reveal specifications or confirm exactly how Apple will market the devices. However, their appearance in iOS suggests Apple is already preparing the software for different hardware configurations and power-management requirements.
The discovery is particularly interesting because the iPhone Ultra is expected to be Apple’s first foldable iPhone, while the iPhone Air 2 would represent a second generation for the thinner model.
What’s new in iOS 27 beta 5?
iOS 27 beta 5 introduces new icons for Safari, Siri, Preview, the App Store and the Remote app. Siri also gets additional voice customisation options, including controls for Pace and Expressivity for American and British English voices.
