James Gunn is already working on what comes after Man of Tomorrow, even though the next Superman film is still in post-production. The DC Studios co-CEO has started writing another film, suggesting that the new DC Universe is already moving beyond its first Superman story.

Gunn confirmed the update on October 4, 2026, during an exchange with a fan on Threads. When asked if he was ready to write his next film, Gunn replied, “Already in it,” adding that he “had to do something” while waiting for the assembly cut of Man of Tomorrow. The Superman sequel is scheduled to arrive in cinemas, but Gunn has not revealed the title, story or characters of the film he is currently writing.
