The AI rush has been crazy. In the last few years, numerous AI tools and AI-assisted tools have been released, with many promising to replace entire activities previously done by humans.

But now, Meta is launching a new tool that promises something different.

Recently, Meta launched an AI assistant for its Edits app. But it's not here to edit your videos. It's here to tell you why they're not performing. The Edits Assistant analyses your metrics, spots patterns and gives you personalised feedback.

What the Edits Assistant does

The assistant is a conversational AI chatbot. It knows your Instagram metrics, including follows, views, video retention, likes and shares, and combines them with your comments, what's trending on Instagram and what your audience is interested in.

“It can spot patterns in your performance over time and surface actionable insights that are hard to see from the metrics alone,” said Brett Westervelt, who leads the Edits app.

It can also suggest audio that might work with your content and help you research concepts that have performed well on Instagram.

Why Meta is pitching it this way

Meta said it worked closely with creators when developing the tool. “One thing we heard consistently: creators want a tool that handles the analysis, not one that does the creative work for them,” Brett said.

“Edits Assistant does the digging for you. The creative calls are still yours,” he added. That's quite a distinction from what others are doing.
