Motorola’s Edge 60 Neo never made it to India, but its successor could be a different story. The Edge 60 Neo offered a compact 6.36-inch display, a 5,200mAh battery, and a telephoto camera. The Edge 70 Neo appears to be taking a very different approach.
According to specifications leaked by tipster Sanju Choudhary, the Edge 70 Neo could feature a 6.78-inch 1.5K display with a 144Hz refresh rate and a massive 7,000mAh battery. Motorola appears to be prioritising screen size and battery life over the compact design of its predecessor.
Whether that’s the right move will depend on what Indian buyers want from a mid-range phone. And, as always, the price could make or break the deal.

Motorola Edge 70 Neo Expected specifications
The leaked specifications point to a 6.78-inch display with a 1.5K resolution, a 144Hz refresh rate, and Gorilla Glass 7i protection. That combination should offer a spacious viewing experience and smooth scrolling, making the phone appealing to people who spend a lot of time watching videos or browsing.
Under the hood, the phone is expected to use Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 processor, paired with LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 3.1 storage. The chipset was introduced in 2024, so it isn’t the newest option available. It should still handle everyday tasks comfortably, although buyers prioritising gaming performance may want to compare it with newer alternatives.

The camera setup reportedly includes a 50MP Sony LYTIA 710 primary sensor with an f/1.8 aperture, a 2MP macro camera, and a three-in-one light sensor. A 32MP camera is expected on the front.
The main camera could be capable, but the lack of a dedicated telephoto lens is a limitation for people who regularly photograph distant subjects. The 2MP macro camera also offers less flexibility than a more versatile ultrawide or telephoto setup might.
Battery life is where the Edge 70 Neo could stand out. Its reported 7,000mAh battery is paired with 45W charging. The phone is said to measure 8.49mm thick and weigh 204g, which is understandable for a device with such a large battery, although some users may find it heavy.

Other leaked details include Android 16, an IP64 rating for dust and water resistance, four major Android OS updates and five years of security patches.
The phone is also expected to arrive in four Pantone colours: Mountain View, Milky Blue, Sage and Gray Lilac.
How the Edge 70 Neo could compare with rivals
The Indian mid-range smartphone market is crowded, so a large battery and display won’t necessarily be enough to make the Edge 70 Neo stand out.
The Realme GT 7 could appeal more to buyers who prioritise processing power, gaming performance and fast charging over battery capacity alone. Meanwhile, the Samsung Galaxy A57 may attract those who value Samsung’s software ecosystem, long-term support and AMOLED display technology.

The Nothing Phone (3a) offers a distinctive design and a relatively clean software experience. It also uses the Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 chipset reportedly planned for the Edge 70 Neo, making it an interesting comparison for buyers weighing performance and everyday usability.
Then there’s the Vivo T4 Pro 5G, which is worth considering for its combination of battery endurance, display quality, and camera capabilities. How it compares with Motorola’s upcoming phone will depend on their final prices and the specifications available in India.
Each device caters to slightly different priorities, but they illustrate the challenge Motorola faces. Buyers already have options focused on performance, software support, design, and battery life.
The trade-offs
The Edge 70 Neo appears to make a clear bet: give buyers a bigger screen and a bigger battery, even if that means making compromises elsewhere.
The Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 isn’t the latest chipset, the camera setup lacks a dedicated telephoto lens, and 45W charging may feel modest next to competitors offering higher charging speeds. Its 204g weight could also make it less appealing to people who prefer compact, lightweight phones.
Still, the reported specifications have some obvious advantages. A 7,000mAh battery could provide excellent endurance, while the 6.78-inch 1.5K display and 144Hz refresh rate should make the phone well suited to video streaming, browsing and casual gaming.
For people who spend long hours away from a charger, those features could matter more than having the fastest processor or an extra camera lens.
When will the Motorola Edge 70 Neo launch in India?
Motorola reportedly confirmed plans to bring the Edge 70 Neo to India during IFA 2026 in September. The phone has also appeared on Geekbench with the Snapdragon 7s Gen 3, 6GB of RAM, and Android 16.
