Sony Interactive Entertainment has quietly added a major new free-to-play title to the PlayStation Store, and early player reactions suggest it could become one of the platform’s standout RPG launches of 2026.
Neverness to Everness, often shortened to NTE, officially launched today as a PS5 console exclusive, while also releasing on PC and mobile with full cross-platform support. Developed by Hotta Studio and published by Perfect World Games, the supernatural open-world action RPG is already generating strong buzz among players.
Shortly after launch, Neverness to Everness began receiving overwhelmingly positive player feedback on the PlayStation Store. At the time of release, the game quickly secured an impressive 4.34 out of 5-star rating based on nearly 3,000 verified player reviews.
That early response is particularly notable given the competitive free-to-play RPG market, where player impressions can often shift rapidly. For now, however, NTE appears to be making a strong first impression with PlayStation users.
What is Neverness to Everness about?
Set in the neon-lit supernatural city of Hethereau, Neverness to Everness places players in the role of an unlicensed Anomaly Hunter navigating urban mysteries, dangerous commissions, and strange paranormal events.
According to the game’s official description, “The story begins in the city of Hethereau, where you’ll join the crew at Eibon, a rundown antique shop that keeps the lights on by taking Anomaly commissions from anyone willing to pay.”
Players will team up with a diverse roster of companions while exploring a city packed with mysteries, supernatural threats, emotional storylines, and fast-paced action.
The combination of urban fantasy aesthetics, anime-inspired presentation, and open-world RPG mechanics appears to be resonating strongly with early adopters.
Cross-platform support expands accessibility
While NTE is considered a PS5 console exclusive, it is not limited solely to Sony’s ecosystem.
The game is also available on PC, mobile devices, and cross-platform progression and support.
This means players can freely switch between platforms while maintaining their progress, a feature that continues to grow in importance for modern live-service RPGs.
Because Neverness to Everness is fully free-to-play, players do not need an active PlayStation Plus subscription to download or play.
However, PlayStation Plus Premium subscribers do receive an added benefit through cloud streaming support, allowing access without requiring a full local install.

Several factors are contributing to the game’s early momentum.
