Two of Hogwarts’ most memorable characters are getting the spotlight in a pair of new Harry Potter books. Bloomsbury is expanding its Pocket Potters series with illustrated guides focused on Professor Minerva McGonagall and Fred and George Weasley, with both books set to arrive in 2027.

These novels are compact character guides aimed mainly at younger readers, while giving longtime fans another way to revisit the Wizarding World.

Their release also comes as HBO prepares to bring Harry Potter back to television with its new series, making 2027 another busy year for the franchise.

The Batman Part II has hit another production setback after filming finally began, raising fresh questions about its 2028 release.

What Are the New Harry Potter Books About?

The first book focuses on Professor McGonagall, one of Hogwarts' most recognisable teachers and the head of Gryffindor House. Pocket Potters: Professor McGonagall, illustrated by Natalie Smillie, looks at the character's life and role within Hogwarts.

Readers can expect details about her Transfiguration lessons, her ability to transform into a cat and her relationships with Harry and other members of the Hogwarts staff. Bloomsbury says the books are packed with story moments, quotes and facts while avoiding spoilers.

The second follows Fred and George Weasley. Illustrated by Helen Brady, Pocket Potters: Fred and George Weasley explore the twins' time at Hogwarts, their elaborate pranks and inventions, and their eventual decision to leave school and build Weasleys' Wizard Wheezes in Diagon Alley.

When Can You Buy Them?

Both books will be published in the UK on February 23, 2027. They are currently available to pre-order through Bloomsbury, with the standard hardback listed at £10 and a current pre-order price of £7.
