It's no secret that the Chinese love American tech. Well, even though it is technically 'Chinese tech' since most American consumer electronics are assembled in China, you get the point. 😊
For example, the iPhone has been sold in China more than in the United States, making the Asian country the largest market for iPhones in 2023. The country accounted for 24% of all iPhone shipments in Q2 2023 flooring the 21% share of the United States, according to global market research firm TechInsights.
And while some might try to make an argument about the significant ratio in population between the two countries, a win is a win.
What's even more interesting is that Apple not only took over China but also took over the world, with five of its smartphone models securing spots in the top 10 most shipped phones globally. The top iPhone, the iPhone 14 Pro Max📱, boasted a jaw-dropping 26.5 million units sold in the first half of 2023.
Meanwhile, Samsung struggled with the other five all at the bottom of that list. Chinese brand on the other hand copped the short end of the stick, making no appearance at all in the top ten. I'm guessing they were busy buying the iPhones. 🤑
All of this is happening just before Apple's September iPhone event scheduled for the 12th, which will feature the launch of the iPhone 15 series and Watch series. Would we finally see an iPhone compatible with USB-C? 🤞🏽
