Three months after disclosing plans to cut 21,000 jobs, Oracle has begun another round of employee reductions, with some workers receiving immediate termination notices telling them that "today is your final day of work."
The latest cuts mark Oracle's third reported round of workforce reductions this year, although the company has yet to confirm how many employees are affected. The new layoffs could further reduce Oracle's workforce, which has already fallen from approximately 162,000 employees in May 2025 to 141,000 in May 2026.
What Oracle told affected employees
A post shared by a market researcher on X showed an email sent to an affected Oracle employee informing them that their role had been eliminated as part of a broader organisational change.
"After careful consideration of Oracle's current business needs, we have made the decision to eliminate your role as part of a broader organizational change. As a result, today is your last working day," the email stated.
The company told the employee that after signing their termination paperwork, they would be eligible for a severance package subject to the terms of Oracle's severance plan.
"You will receive an email from DocuSign to your Oracle email address with details on your severance and termination date," the email added, marking the communication as requiring immediate action.
