When Sony refreshes the PlayStation Plus Extra catalogue each month, most players immediately look at what's being added. But every update comes with another list that's just as important: the games that are about to be removed.
This August, that list includes nine titles leaving the service on August 18, headlined by Dead Island 2, Unicorn Overlord, Earth Defence Force 6, and Harold Halibut. If any of them have been sitting in your backlog, you now have just a few weeks left to finish them before they're removed from the Game Catalogue.
This is because subscription gaming has changed how millions of PlayStation owners discover and play games. Instead of buying every title outright, subscribers can download from a constantly changing library of games. The trade-off, however, is that availability isn't permanent. As licensing agreements expire and Sony refreshes its catalogue, games rotate out just as regularly as new ones arrive.

Which Games Are Leaving PS Plus Extra?
All nine titles are set to leave on August 18, 2026, the usual third Tuesday cutoff Sony uses for its monthly catalogue refresh. The lineup is:
- Dead Island 2
- Unicorn Overlord
- Earth Defence Force 6
- Harold Halibut
- Roki
- Clash: Artefacts of Chaos
- Onee Chanbara Origin
- Bomber Crew
- Space Crew: Legendary Edition
Interestingly, five of these nine games, Clash: Artefacts of Chaos, Roki, Onee Chanbara Origin, Bomber Crew and Space Crew: Legendary Edition, were originally supposed to leave back in July, but Sony extended their availability by another month. That gave subscribers a little more breathing room, but August 18 now appears to be their final date in the catalogue.
Which Games Should You Prioritise?
If you only have time to finish a few games before they leave, Dead Island 2 and Unicorn Overlord should be at the top of your list.
