Ubisoft is shutting down Rainbow Six Mobile on January 15, 2027, less than 11 months after the tactical shooter launched worldwide on Android and iOS.
In an official announcement published on October 8, the development team said it had made the “difficult decision to sunset Rainbow Six Mobile.” The game will remain playable until January 15, while its next season will launch as planned next week.
The decision ends Ubisoft’s attempt to bring the Rainbow Six Siege experience to smartphones after years of development, testing, and seasonal updates. The company hasn't explained why it's closing the game, but confirmed that its developers will move to other long-term strategic projects.
Here’s what players need to know about the shutdown and what happens next.

When Is Rainbow Six Mobile Shutting Down?
Rainbow Six Mobile will remain available until January 15, 2027, when Ubisoft plans to end the service. The next season will still arrive as scheduled. Ubisoft has also promised more information in the coming weeks to help players prepare for the transition.
“Since Soft Launch in 2023, you have helped us shape this game and build this vibrant community of players from around the world through 15 seasons,” the development team said in its announcement.
That detail highlights the work behind the mobile release, which went through several years of testing before its global launch on February 23, 2026.
Ubisoft has yet to clarify what will happen to unused in-game currency, purchases, and player accounts after the servers close. Players should wait for official guidance rather than assume they will receive refunds or be able to transfer purchases to another game.
Why Is Ubisoft Shutting Down Rainbow Six Mobile?
Ubisoft hasn't disclosed the reason for the shutdown. So, there's no confirmed evidence that declining player numbers, poor sales, or development costs were responsible for the decision.
The timing is nevertheless striking. After its worldwide launch in February 2026, the game will have had less than 11 months on the global market before its planned closure.
Ubisoft’s announcement focuses on thanking the community and outlining the transition. It does not provide player-count figures, revenue data, or an explanation of the business decision.
The company did confirm that the development team will move to “other long-term strategic projects,” although it has not identified those projects.
For now, the reasons behind the closure remain unclear. The confirmed news is that Ubisoft is ending the service despite having spent years preparing the game for a worldwide audience.

What Was Rainbow Six Mobile?
Announced in 2022, Rainbow Six Mobile was Ubisoft’s free-to-play adaptation of its tactical shooter franchise for Android and iOS.
The game brought familiar Rainbow Six Siege mechanics to smartphones, including operator abilities, destructible environments, close-quarters combat, and coordinated five-versus-five matches.
Ubisoft also redesigned the experience for touchscreen controls and mobile hardware instead of simply porting the existing PC and console game.
When Ubisoft announced its worldwide release, it highlighted three modes: Bomb, Bomb Rush, and Team Deathmatch. The game also featured more than 20 Operators at launch, alongside maps adapted from Siege and mobile-exclusive locations.
The aim was to make the franchise accessible to players without gaming PCs or consoles. But the upcoming shutdown means that this mobile version will no longer be an option after January 15, 2027.
Is Rainbow Six Siege Also Shutting Down?
No. Ubisoft’s announcement concerns Rainbow Six Mobile, not Rainbow Six Siege.
