After a delayed start caused by a major bug, Samsung is reportedly finally pushing out the full version of One UI 7 for the Galaxy S25 series. The update, based on Android 15, is now rolling out in South Korea and is expected to expand to other regions soon, as per reports.

The Galaxy S25 series originally launched in January with One UI 7 pre-installed, but this latest firmware update, ending with “YD9,” appears to be the “complete” version. It brings minor but welcome refinements, like a new charging animation and better support for media apps—small touches that improve day-to-day usability.

More notably, One UI 7 introduces AI-driven features such as the Now Bar for live notifications and Now Brief for summarising key info. Productivity tools like Call Transcript, Writing Assist, and Drawing Assist also make their debut, further blurring the lines between phone and smart assistant.

But the road to this rollout hasn’t been smooth. Earlier this week, Samsung paused the global update due to a critical bug that prevented some Galaxy S24 users from unlocking their devices. That issue never affected the S25 series, but it’s raised concerns about the stability of the update for other models.

Samsung’s delayed One UI 7 update highlights the critical balance between innovation and software stability for millions of users

So far, there's no clear timeline for when One UI 7 will resume for older devices like the Galaxy S24, Z Fold 6, and Z Flip 6. Reports suggest that availability of this update seems to vary by region.

The new S25 update weighs in at around 780MB and includes the April security patch. If you own an S25, you can check for it by going to: Settings > Software Update > Download and Install.

Samsung noted that once you update to this build, you won’t be able to roll back to a previous One UI 7 version with a lower security level, so make sure you’re ready before you install.

For now, Samsung fans using older models are left in limbo. The S25 rollout might signal that a broader fix is on the way—but until then, it’s a waiting game
