Just months after Stranger Things: Tales From ’85 introduced fans to a new animated chapter of the franchise, Netflix is bringing the Hawkins Investigators Club back for another supernatural mystery. Season 2 will arrive on Netflix on September 17, 2026, continuing the story between the second and third seasons of the original Stranger Things.
The new season moves the action towards Valentine’s Day, when strange apparitions and unusual creatures begin to appear across Hawkins. Rather than simply repeating the Upside Down formula, the series appears ready to play with a more mysterious, ghost-story style of horror.
Netflix has already released a trailer, giving fans their first proper look at what Eleven, Mike, Dustin, Will, Lucas, Max and Nikki will face next.

A new mystery is waiting in Hawkins
Season 2 picks up directly after the events of the first season, with the Hawkins Investigators Club facing another threat after previously stopping the Horde Queen from opening a new gate to the Upside Down. The new danger begins with strange “ghostly” apparitions and a swarm of creatures known as hate sprites.
The timing also gives the story a different atmosphere. Valentine’s Day is approaching, but instead of focusing on romance, the characters are dealing with supernatural activity spreading through their town.
Showrunner Eric Robles teased that the new season will take the group into previously unexplored parts of Hawkins, including a mine that has not appeared in the series before.
The original characters are returning
The animated spin-off continues to use familiar characters rather than creating an entirely separate group of heroes. Brooklyn Davey Norstedt returns as Eleven, alongside Luca Diaz as Mike, Benjamin Plessala as Will, Braxton Quinney as Dustin, Elisha “EJ” Williams as Lucas, Jolie Hoang-Rappaport as Max, and Odessa A’zion as Nikki. Brett Gipson also returns as Hopper, while Jeremy Jordan voices Steve Harrington.
The returning cast helps Tales From ’85 remain connected to the wider Stranger Things story, even though the series has its own animated style and original adventures.
The animation expands the Stranger Things world
Tales From ’85 is produced by Sydney-based Flying Bark Productions, with Eric Robles serving as showrunner and Matt and Ross Duffer involved as executive producers.
