TECNO launches its CAMON 40 Premier 5G
TECNO's latest launch combines AI expertise with high-end photography capabilities.

Most professional photographers use a DSLR camera to take those quality photos you see in studio shoots. But, for someone who wants to capture life's most precious moments in stunning detail, without a DSLR camera, TECNO's latest phone, the CAMON 40 Premier 5G, is a good alternative.
The device combines AI-powered imaging features with 5G-ready performance, powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 8350 Ultimate chipset. According to TECNO, the processor offers improved energy efficiency, enhanced multitasking, and support for real-time AI tasks, made possible by its 4nm architecture.
In terms of imaging, the CAMON 40 Premier 5G boasts a triple-camera setup: a 50MP Sony IMX890 main camera with OIS for better low-light shots, a 50MP 2x portrait telephoto lens for natural bokeh effects, and a 50MP ultra-wide autofocus camera with a 114-degree field of view for capturing wide scenes.
TECNO also introduced a feature called AI FlashSnap, which uses AI to optimize camera launch speed and continuous shooting. It combines multi-frame processing to reduce noise while using an AI-based algorithm—BestMoment—to automatically select the sharpest, most accurately timed shots. This is particularly useful for capturing fast-moving subjects or candid moments.
On the video side, the CAMON 40 Premier 5G supports 4K 60fps Ultra Night Video and includes an independent imaging chip. This allows the device to shoot stable and bright videos in dim environments, a growing demand among content creators and bloggers.

In terms of design and display, the device features a vibrant AMOLED screen with a vibration-sensing in-display fingerprint scanner, contributing to a sleek, modern look. The AMOLED panel is expected to offer better color reproduction, deeper blacks, and improved battery efficiency. The battery capacity also stands at 5100mAh, paired with 70W ultra-fast charging.
As TECNO's CAMON series makes waves in the mid-range flagship market, it faces stiff competition with brands like the Samsung Galaxy A53 5G (quad-camera, 5000mAh battery, 25W charging) and Oppo Reno 8 Pro 5G (dual 50MP sensors, 80W charging).
Yet, the CAMON 40's focus on high-end photography paired with AI capabilities could make it an attractive option for creators on a budget. The series is now available through authorized TECNO retail channels nationwide, priced at about ₦694,300 ($433).
