For creators and everyday users alike, one of the most frustrating things about Threads has been the complete lack of feedback. Was your post ignored, flagged, or quietly buried by the algorithm? Until now, there was no way to know. That’s finally changing.

Meta has introduced a new “Account Status” feature to Threads — a long-overdue move aimed at bringing some transparency to how content is moderated and ranked on the platform.

This means users can now see if their posts have been removed, downranked, or marked as “un-recommendable” by Meta’s moderation system. It also shows whether your account has been restricted from using certain features due to rule violations. And if something looks off, you’ll be able to appeal directly through the app.

It’s a long overdue move for Threads, which has relied heavily on algorithmic recommendations since launch, but hasn’t always explained how those recommendations work. Earlier this year, Meta faced backlash after initially limiting the visibility of political and social content on Threads. It later reversed course, saying such content would again be recommended, but the damage to creator trust lingered.

With the rollout of Account Status, Meta is aiming to offer more clarity around content moderation on Threads. The feature shows users a summary of any actions taken against their account, such as post removals, demotions, or limitations on reach, and can be accessed from the “Account” section in the app’s settings.

For over users and creators, this could offer some insight into how moderation decisions affect their content. It also provides a way to check whether certain posts were restricted and, if so, why.

While Instagram and Facebook have offered a similar tool for some time, Threads is still catching up in this area. Given how heavily the app relies on recommendations to surface content, even small steps toward transparency could influence how creators engage with the platform.

The update is rolling out now. It’s not a fix-all, but it’s a step toward making Threads a less mysterious and more accountable place to post.
