TikTok creators just got a new way to get paid
Now, all creators can benefit from rewards through subscriptions.
TikTok's creator revenue system just got a whole makeover, allowing non-streaming creators to get paid through subscription models. In other words, if you're a shy creator on TikTok, you no longer have to go live to get paid properly.
Like many other social platforms, TikTok has systems to help creators generate revenue. One of the major ways creators could make money on the platform was through subscriptions and rewards given through livestreams. But, this "LIVE Subscription" feature could not be taken advantage of by many TikTok creators as not everyone was open to the idea of doing a live stream.
Now, TikTok has reworked this feature and renamed it "Subscription". This feature allows TikTok creators to have tier-like content where followers can access exclusive perks and content for a fee. This includes private communication channels, special videos, notes only visible to subscribers, unique stickers and many more.
To be eligible for this though, TikTok says you need to, at least, be an 18-year-old with 10,000 followers and 100,000 views over the past month. This already puts it out of reach for several aspiring superstars on the platform as more than half of them have less than 10, 000 followers, according to Shopify.
You also need to be in one of the eligible countries, including Brazil, France, Germany, Spain, the U.K., Indonesia, Italy, Japan, South Korea, and the United States. But the company plans to roll this out to other countries soon.
Overall, the expansion of this feature could provide an incentive for more creatives to come on the platform.
