Xiaomi-owned Poco is back in familiar territory, pushing big specs at aggressive prices. The company has officially unveiled the Poco X8 Pro series, a three-device lineup that includes the Poco X8 Pro Max, Poco X8 Pro, and a flashy Poco X8 Pro Iron Man Edition, all aimed at delivering premium performance without fully crossing into high-end smartphone pricing.

At the top of the stack is the Poco X8 Pro Max, which leans heavily into power and endurance. It runs on MediaTek’s Dimensity 9500s chipset and is paired with fast LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.1 storage, making it one of the more performance-focused devices in this price bracket. But the real talking point here is the battery.

In India, the Pro Max packs a massive 9,000mAh cell, well above what most competitors offer, while global variants get a slightly smaller 8,500mAh unit. Either way, Poco is clearly betting on battery life as a major selling point, even claiming up to two days of usage on a single charge.

The standard Poco X8 Pro sits just below it, powered by the Dimensity 8500-Ultra chip. It’s a step down in raw performance, but still comfortably in upper midrange territory. It also gets a sizable 6,500 mAh silicon-carbon battery, which is becoming more common in newer devices as brands look to increase capacity without making phones too bulky.

Both phones support 100W fast charging, and interestingly, the Pro Max also supports 27W reverse wired charging, meaning it can double as a power bank for other devices.

Both phones come with AMOLED displays with high brightness levels, up to 3,500 nits, and 120Hz refresh rates, which should make everything from scrolling to gaming smooth. The Pro Max has a slightly larger 6.83-inch panel, while the Pro comes in at 6.59 inches.

Poco is also adding a bit of flair to the design this time, with metal frames and a racetrack-inspired camera module that includes dynamic RGB lighting. It’s not just for aesthetics either. The lighting reacts to things like notifications, music playback, and charging status, adding a bit of personality to the devices.

Camera-wise, Poco is keeping things consistent across the lineup with 50MP main sensors and 20MP front cameras, though the sensors differ. The Pro Max uses the Light Fusion 600 sensor, while the Pro model opts for Sony’s IMX882. In practical terms, both should deliver solid results for everyday photography, even if they’re not quite pushing into flagship camera territory.

Then there’s the Iron Man Edition, which is essentially a themed version of the Poco X8 Pro. It comes with a black-and-gold finish inspired by Iron Man’s armour, along with design touches like an Arc Reactor-style camera module and a custom UI. It’s clearly targeted at fans, but it also adds a bit of uniqueness to what is otherwise a spec-driven lineup.

Software-wise, all models run Xiaomi’s HyperOS 3 based on Android 16 out of the box. Poco is also introducing a “Ticket Purchase Mode,” a niche but interesting feature designed to optimise performance and touch response during high-demand online sales, though the company admits it won’t guarantee success. That feature is expected to roll out via an update later in May 2026.

As for pricing, Poco is sticking to its usual value-first approach. In India, the Poco X8 Pro starts at ₹32,999 ($355), while the Pro Max begins at ₹42,999 ($463). The Iron Man Edition sits in between at ₹37,999 ($410). The devices will go on sale starting March 23 via Flipkart, with multiple storage configurations available.

The company seems to be stepping into true flagship territory with the new F8 Ultra and F8 Pro, bringing premium features without the premium price tag.
