Ser Criston Cole is dead. House of the Dragon killed off its most hated knight in the first ten minutes of Season 3, Episode 6, shot down by three arrows from archer Alysanne Blackwood before he could finish the "glorious" last stand he'd spent an entire episode promising himself.
It's also a change from the source material. In George R.R. Martin's Fire & Blood, Cole is killed by Red Robb Rivers and his archers, not Alysanne Blackwood. The show hands the killing blow to a different character while keeping the outcome and the humiliation the same.

Cole has been one of the most disliked characters in the show's run for a reason that has nothing to do with dragons or wars between rival claimants to the throne. He broke his Kingsguard vows to sleep with Rhaenyra while sworn to protect her, then broke them again years later with Alicent Hightower, all while lecturing everyone around him about honour and duty.
