Xbox Is Celebrating 25 Years With a $899 Numbered Console

Microsoft is leaning into Xbox nostalgia with a translucent green Series X, a matching controller and a Halo remake, but there's no new hardware inside.

Xbox is turning 25, and Microsoft is marking the occasion with hardware designed to look like it came straight from the brand’s early days.

The Xbox 25th Anniversary Collection, centred on the Xbox Series X25 Limited Edition, is now entering the pre-order phase, with public orders opening on August 27, 2026, in selected markets.

It'll launch on November 13 for $899.99 in the US, although prices will vary by region. The package includes the limited-edition console, a matching X25 controller, and a full-game download of Halo: Campaign Evolved. Microsoft has also opened pre-orders for the controller separately, ahead of its October 20 release.

When can you pre-order the Xbox 25th anniversary collection?

Microsoft began giving some of its most dedicated Xbox fans early access by email on August 26. The pre-order window opens on Thursday, August 27, at 7 am PT through the Xbox website and participating retailers in selected markets.

The company has not said how many consoles will be produced. It has confirmed that orders are limited to one collection per customer and will remain available only while supplies last. That could make the numbered consoles particularly attractive to collectors.

What comes with the $899.99 bundle?

The centrepiece is the Xbox Series X25 Limited Edition, finished in translucent “OG Green” inspired by the original Xbox era. Each console carries its own unique engraved number, giving every unit a distinct place in the anniversary run.
