For years, Xbox's biggest games served a simple purpose: give people a reason to buy an Xbox. Halo did it. Gears of War did it. Forza did it.
The logic was to build games people can't get anywhere else, and some of those people will buy your hardware to play them. Xbox still believes in that strategy. This week, the company's Chief Strategy Officer, Matthew Ball, pushed back against speculation that Microsoft could eventually bring upcoming exclusives like Gears of War: E-Day and Clockwork Revolution to PlayStation.
According to Ball, the rumors are false. The games will remain exclusive, and there have been no discussions about reversing course. He also reiterated that Xbox intends to continue releasing major first-party exclusives every year.
These rumors are false. Gears of War: E-Day and Clockwork Revolution will stay exclusive. There are no conversations and have been no conversations to "reverse course." And as we said last week, players can continue to expect signature exclusives from us every year.

Under normal circumstances, that wouldn't be a particularly controversial statement. But Xbox isn't operating under normal circumstances.
