Microsoft could be preparing one of Xbox players’ most requested features: the ability to convert eligible physical games into digital licenses while still preserving ownership of the original disc.

According to prominent Xbox leaker eXtas1s, a recently surfaced internal Xbox roadmap suggests Microsoft's long-rumored disc-to-digital program is now in testing, with a possible rollout as early as this month.

Microsoft has not yet confirmed the feature, and the leaked roadmap remains unverified. But if the report proves accurate, it could change how Xbox players manage physical game libraries while reinforcing Microsoft's long-standing focus on game preservation.

What Is Xbox's Disc-to-Digital Program?

According to the leak, the feature would allow owners of eligible physical Xbox games to register their discs and receive a digital license linked to their Microsoft account. 

Unlike a traditional digital purchase, the license would reportedly remain tied to ownership of the original disc, allowing players to access the game digitally without repeatedly inserting it into the console.
