Xbox teams up with Meta to launch the Quest 3S Xbox Edition
By bringing Xbox identity to a VR headset, Microsoft is doubling down on its open-access approach.
The rumours were true. After weeks of leaks and social media buzz, the Meta Quest 3S Xbox Edition is now official—and it doesn’t look like any Xbox console you’ve ever seen.
Instead, it’s a slickly branded VR headset dressed in carbon black with Xbox’s signature velocity green, complete with matching Touch Plus controllers, a custom Xbox Wireless Controller, and an Elite Strap. But this isn’t the first time Meta and Microsoft have teamed up.
Back in 2023, they brought Xbox Cloud Gaming to Quest headsets, letting users stream titles like Avowed and Oblivion Remastered from the cloud without a console or PC. However, this new Quest 3S Xbox Edition is their most physical crossover yet—a collector-grade product that merges both brands into one device.

Under the hood, it’s the standard 128GB Meta Quest 3S, but bundled with a three-month subscription to both Meta Horizon+ and Xbox Game Pass Ultimate. That means access to VR worlds, cloud-streamed Xbox games, and even extras like EA Play—all without needing to plug into anything else.
Priced at $400/£400, the headset is available now through Meta, Best Buy, Argos, and EE, but don’t wait around—stock is limited, and with Xbox’s loyal fanbase, this thing could sell out faster than your headset fills up with downloaded games.

This release also speaks to Microsoft’s broader strategy: Xbox everywhere. With previous expansions into smart TVs, Fire TV sticks, and mobile devices, the brand has steadily shifted from console-centric thinking to platform ubiquity.
By bringing Xbox identity to a VR headset—something PlayStation has kept tightly tied to its own ecosystem—Microsoft is doubling down on its open-access approach.
Now, the Meta Quest 3S Xbox Edition doesn’t just offer a new way to play; it looks the part, too. And in a space where branding, access, and flexibility matter more than ever, this collab might be a glimpse of what the future of gaming looks like: console-optional, cloud-first, and everywhere you are.
