Xiaomi’s flagship lineup is getting bigger, literally. Just months after the Xiaomi 17 series launched, the company has expanded the family with two massive premium phones: the Xiaomi 17 Max and the Xiaomi 17 Pro Max.
At first glance, both devices seem incredibly similar. They share the same Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor, giant batteries, huge displays, and Xiaomi’s Leica-focused camera ambitions. But once you look closer, the differences become more obvious.
The Xiaomi 17 Max is designed as the more balanced “big battery flagship” for everyday users who want strong performance without going fully overboard on premium extras. The Xiaomi 17 Pro Max, meanwhile, pushes harder into enthusiast territory with more advanced camera hardware, premium materials, a secondary rear display, and additional flagship features.

For many buyers, the decision will likely come down to priorities. The Xiaomi 17 Max offers stronger value and battery endurance for the price, while the Xiaomi 17 Pro Max targets users willing to spend more for Xiaomi’s most feature-packed flagship experience.

The Xiaomi 17 Max and Xiaomi 17 Pro Max are both unapologetically big flagship phones, but they target slightly different users.
