Netflix has reversed its decision to end Beauty in Black with Season 3. The Tyler Perry drama has been renewed for a fourth season, giving Kimmie and the powerful Bellarie family another chapter after the series was previously expected to conclude with its third season.
The company announced the renewal on July 23, 2026, ahead of Season 3’s August 27 release, which brought all eight episodes to the platform.
Set in Chicago, Beauty in Black follows Kimmie, played by Taylor Polidore Williams, whose life becomes entangled with the wealthy Bellarie family and its beauty business.

Why did Netflix reverse the cancellation?
Beauty in Black was originally renewed for a third and final season in December 2025. Netflix later reversed that decision before Season 3 premiered, making Season 4 one of the streamer's more unexpected renewal decisions.
The change appears to be linked to the show's ability to maintain a strong international audience. According to Tyler Perry, Season 1 spent seven weeks in Netflix's Global Top 10 and reached No. 1 in 28 countries. Season 2 spent six weeks in the Global Top 10 and reached No. 1 in 17 countries.
Perry welcomed the decision, saying, “the Bellarie family’s story is far from finished” and that there was “so much more” he wanted to explore. That performance gives Netflix a reason to reconsider its original plan. Rather than ending a series that has continued to attract viewers across multiple markets, the streamer now has another opportunity to build on its audience.
