Why is season 5 only five episodes?

The shortened season is connected to problems that emerged while production was underway. Filming was paused in March after police in Utah began investigating allegations involving Taylor Frankie Paul and Mortensen.

The disruption came just as Paul was also preparing to appear as the lead of The Bachelorette. ABC subsequently pulled her season from its schedule following the release of video relating to a previous altercation.
