Anthropic has extended free access to Claude Fable 5 for eligible paid subscribers until July 19, 2026, giving users another week to experiment with its most advanced model without paying extra.

This extension comes after a confusing rollout that saw the model become unavailable in some regions due to export restrictions before Anthropic announced it would eventually move to a pay-per-use system.

For many subscribers, that announcement felt odd. After all, paying for a premium AI plan usually comes with the expectation that the newest model is included. Anthropic’s latest offer softens that transition, giving users more time to decide whether Fable 5 is worth paying for once the promotion ends.

Claude Mythos Preview Raises Regulatory Concerns Over Vulnerability Exploitation Capability
Researchers say it can autonomously combine multiple weaknesses to penetrate complex systems, raising concerns it could be used to target financial institutions and critical infrastructure.

And Anthropic’s move is pretty much in line with the broader trend in the industry. As flagship AI models become more expensive to run, companies like Anthropic, OpenAI, and Google are experimenting with hybrid pricing instead of unlimited subscriptions. The goal is to let users experience the newest models first, then charge only those who rely on them heavily.
