Gamescom Opening Night Live 2026 has officially wrapped, and Geoff Keighley's annual showcase delivered a packed two-hour lineup of new game announcements, major trailers, release dates, surprise reveals, and long-awaited updates.
The biggest moment came right at the end, capped by CD Projekt Red's closing surprise: The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Remastered, alongside a brand-new expansion, Songs of the Past.
But Geralt wasn't the only major star of Gamescom Opening Night Live 2026. Square Enix showed a new trailer for Final Fantasy VII Revelation, Xbox brought a fresh look at Gears of War: E-Day, Ubisoft revealed Rainbow Six Tactics and a remake of Heroes of Might & Magic III, while Konami returned with more from Silent Hill: Townfall.
There were also brand-new games from HoYoverse, Neon Giant, Airship Syndicate, Wizards of the Coast, and several independent studios.

The Witcher 3 Remastered Is the Biggest Surprise
CD Projekt Red saved the biggest announcement for the end of Opening Night Live: The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Remastered, a substantial visual and gameplay upgrade to the 2015 RPG arriving in September.
The studio also revealed The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Songs of the Past, a brand-new expansion continuing Geralt's story in 2027. The first trailer teases a new region, new monsters and a distinctive chain-based weapon, with members of the original Witcher 3 team involved.
The Witcher 3: Songs of the Past Announced for 2027
CD Projekt Red wasn't finished with The Witcher. The studio also announced The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Songs of the Past, a brand-new expansion that will continue Geralt's story in 2027.
The first trailer teases a new region, monsters, and new gameplay mechanics, including a distinctive chain-based weapon. The expansion is being developed with members of the original Witcher 3 team involved. CD Projekt Red also confirmed that the existing Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine expansions are being made free for existing owners.
Final Fantasy VII Revelation Gets a Major New Trailer
Final Fantasy VII Revelation, the final chapter in Square Enix's Final Fantasy VII remake trilogy, received one of Opening Night Live's most substantial trailers. Director Naoki Hamaguchi appeared during the show to introduce the new footage, which puts the spotlight on the enormous Weapons.
These planet-defending creatures return as some of the game's most imposing encounters, with the trailer showing Cloud and his allies facing them across deserts, the skies, and underwater environments. The footage also offered a closer look at Typhon, new open-world traversal options including parachutes, grappling hooks and Chocobo mounts, and the game's new FITS system.
FITS allows characters such as Cloud and Tifa to equip specialized outfits that provide new abilities and combat roles inspired by classic Final Fantasy jobs. Final Fantasy VII Revelation is scheduled for spring 2027.
Gears of War: E-Day Gets a New Trailer
Xbox brought Gears of War: E-Day back into the spotlight with a new trailer. The upcoming prequel takes players back to Emergence Day, exploring the origins of the Locust invasion and the early years of Marcus Fenix. Microsoft also confirmed a launch window for later this year.
